Last week wasn’t good for me and I’m definitely suffering from preparing for Gameweek 31. It’s a nice lesson for next year; don’t hamper your team in weeks in advance for a single gameweek.
Buy Him: Christopher Schindler
Huddersfield have been a nice surprise this season, putting up a much tougher fight relegation fight than anyone expected from last season’s Championship playoff winners. They started off strong, struggled a lot until recently, but won 2 games in a row before a scheduled loss against Spurs at Wembley last gameweek.
One of the reasons they have put up a fight is Christopher Schindler. The German has been turning head and taking names this season, as a mainstay in Huddersfield defence. When Huddersfield have kept a clean sheet, Schindler reaps the benefits, as he has racked up 12 bonus points this season.
With an easy upcoming schedule, including home games to Swansea and Crystal Palace in the next 2, Schindler makes sense as an acquisition. His teammate Rajiv van la Parra is a cheap shout if you need a midfielder and Steve Mounié scores a brace every now and then, including in the opening match against Crystal Palace. Huddersfield is the way to go for any need this gameweek.
Sell Him: Phil Jones
This should have been done a couple of weeks ago. I opted to sell Otamendi to get slightly more bang for my buck, hoping Jones would get fit for a home game against Crystal Palace. Instead, Jones will be out until after the blank, when you should be planning on wildcarding anyway.
Jones is just too injury prone anyway and with Eric Bailly back in the fold, he might not be as needed anyway. Especially with a tight schedule with league matches, FA Cup and possibly Champions League matches, should they advance. He will struggle to either stay healthy or at the very least play in every game.
Keep Him: Theo Walcott
After an awesome start in his Everton career, scoring a brace against Leicester in his 2nd full match, Walcott hasn’t met FPL expectations with 4 straight blanks. Everton as a whole have struggled, with 3 losses in their last 4 games.
Walcott – despite blanking – has still looked good. He was close to scoring against former team Arsenal, was the man of the match in their win against Palace and got a hockey assist and had more big chances against Burnley last week.
He’s gonna score eventually and with a game in GW31, keeping him is a no brainer. Even if you plan on using the free hit chip next week, his match at home against Brighton this week is a good one.
Stay Away: Heung-Min Son
Heung-Min Son is a terrific player and he just showed why, taking over the show from Harry Kane against Huddersfield at home.
At home is the words that should make you weary. Son has 10 goals and 5 assists this season. Can you guess how many have been in away matches?
1 goal.
That’s it. 9 goals and 5 assists at home, 1 goal away. Can you guess how many home game Spurs have in the next 4 GWs? 0. Away, Blank, Away, Away. Trips to Bournemouth, Chelsea and Stoke on each side of their GW31 blank.
It’s obviously tempting to sell Walcott for Son, but don’t do it. Walcott has a better chance to score this week and helps you in GW31, unlike Son.
